Thailand Food Business

What small business should I (foreigner) start in Philippines?

After 10 years in Thailand I’m getting pretty bored of the locals and the developments in general, thinking of moving to Philippines, I have also a nice and motivated gf there.

What could be a profitable small business to start, something with food ? Foreign food perhaps ? Low investment anyway. Too little experience to know wheat area I probably gonna live.

many thanks in advance ;-)

REALLY DEPENDING on the type of business and the money you will have to invest on it. The more money naturally the more return of investment. Remember it takes money to make money. As for me, moving out that easily in Thailand is a very…very bad idea. You already established yourself imagine at 10 years in Thailand suddenly you decided to move out and make a start in the Philippines? What made you think by moving into the Philippines scenario isn’t what will happen to you way back in Thailand? Maybe much worst than what you did in Thailand. Both of these countries have different background. Don’t think just because you got a gf in the Philippines everything would work out just fine.

For my own opinion, franchasing is for me in venturing in the food businesses esp. in the Philippines. But in this category you must possessed roughly at least Php 500,000 to start a business. Yup half a million Philippine peso. Because you will sell products that is alrelady saleable and known brand through out the Philippine history like Goldilocks and Jollibee. That is why it is very expensive. Well if a small time eatery just under the bridge or something, maybe Php 10,000 or less. But you must do all the buying/cooking and waking up in the early hours of the day at 4 am to start your day. It is a hard work. Who said personal business is not hard work?

IN THE PHILIPPINES FOOD IS NUMBER 1, because Filipinos love to shop around and after that loves to eat everything with their hearts content. Food is the best business in the Philippines and before you venture with any of it consult an expert opinion on what to do/and what not to do.

Possible move to China…cultural advice or tips?

Hello. I’m cosidering a temporary move to China to work as a teacher for a semester. I got a great answer the other day about the city I will be in (Harbin).
I would like to know if there are any cultural things I should be very aware about.and daily living tips.
Anything about food, customs, cell service and reliability of internet and usual social activities, do’s and dont’s would be great.
I’m American and haved lived in Thailand and Europe before, I find this one a particular challenge, though…
Thank you!!

It is in Chinese culture that teachers are highly respected. Some schools even require students to stand up and say ‘Good Morning/Afternoon ‘ to their teachers before each class. So don’t get freaked out when your students do that.

In remote areas, ppl have never seen foreigners. They might be staring at you, but it’s totally out of curiosity. Don’t act like you are from a 1st world country. Show some respect. You will find most of Chinese towns are very friendly and safe to visit.

Thailand Food Holidays

Thailand Public Holidays, Holidays in Thailand, Buddha Day, Buddhist Ceremony

It was 9 full months after the Buddha got the Enlightenment, on the full moon day of 6th lunar month, 45 years before the Buddhist era. On the full moon day of the 3rd lunar month, Makha, of the year, 4 special events happened:

Another important event, which happened on the same days (the full moon day of the 3rd lunar month) 44 years later, the last year of the Buddha’s life, he decided to ‘Parinibbhana’, nirvana, leave the mind from the body or die. 3 months after that day (on the full moon day of the six lunar month — we known as ‘Wisakha Bucha Day’).

There were 1,250 Sangha followers, that came to see the Buddha that evening without any schedule.
2. All of them were “Arhantas’, the Enlightened One, and all of them were ordained by the Buddha himself.
3. The Buddha gave those Arhantas the principles of the Buddhism, called “The Ovadhapatimokha”. Those principles are: — To cease from all evil, — To do what is good, — To cleanse one’s mind;
4. It was the full moon day.

ACTIVITIES TO BE OBSERVED ON MAKHA BUCHA DAY
